smartvalues - rising sectors Theme

smartvalues harvests momentum in many different ways. In this basket we look at trends that are emerging in the leading sectors. In time, some sectors fall away and new ones emerge. Currently we are looking at trends emerging in four specific sectors, midcap telecom, metals consumer durables and public sector enterprises. We look at both large cap and mid cap stocks in this space and identify those stocks that are in a longterm trend. It is another way in which we seek to bring you the benefits of being with the trend. You will be surprised by what large and midcap stocks can do.

More specifically:

1. The basket comprises of ten stocks across specific sectors like telecom, metals, consumer durables and public sector enterprises.
2. All stocks start with an equal ten percent weightage
3. The basket is reviewed every month which may or maynot result in a rebalance. Frequent rebalances can be disruptive and so we keep them to a minimum.
4. Stocks are selected based on our momentum filters
5. The portfolio is managed on the old traders' adage of cutting your losses and letting your winners run.
6. Like all our portfolios, manager discretion is kept to a minimum,
