When you buy stocks, they are credited to your demat account and when you sell them, they are debited from the account.

How can I start my stock investment journey on smallcase?

You can start your stock investment journey in 3 easy steps:

1. Go to the smallcase website or the app and click on login and use your phone number to login.

2. Select your smallcase from the 500+ readymade smallcases based on the theme, strategy of your choice

3. Once you have chosen your smallcases and gotten their subscriptions, if required, all that remains is clicking on the ‘Invest Now’ button. All the constituent stocks will be then credited to your Demat account.

What are the documents needed for stock investing?

To open a demat account to get started with stock investing, you will require the following documents:

  1. PAN Card for identity proof
  2. Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License or any other authorised photo identity for address proof
  3. A latest passport-size photograph
  4. Signature on a white paper (signature should match with the one on your PAN card)
  5. Income Tax Returns (ITR) statement or bank statements from the last 6 months for income proof
  6. Cancelled cheque, passbook for the last 6 months as bank proof

What are Fees and Taxes associated with smallcases?

The charges for investing in smallcases are as per the broker’s guidelines and only apply when you transact.Visit the help page on your broker platform for more information.

For smallcases of stocks, the taxes are the same as equities – Long-Term Capital Gains (> 1 year of holding) are 10% of the total gains (if gains for the year exceed ₹1 lakh) and Short-Term Capital Gains (< 1 year of holding) are 15% of the total gains.
