Here are the transaction charges applicable when investing in smallcases through Groww.
Transaction Fees
Lump Sum Investment Charges
- A transaction fee of ₹100 or 1.5% of the investment amount, whichever is lower, applies to each lump sum investment in a new or existing smallcase.
- The transaction fee will not exceed ₹100, excluding applicable GST.
Examples:
- Invest ₹1,00,000 → Fee = ₹100 (1.5% = ₹1,500, but capped at ₹100)
- Invest ₹1,000 → Fee = ₹15 (1.5% of ₹1,000)
- Invest ₹5,000 → Fee = ₹75 (1.5% of ₹5,000)
Investment Reminder Charges
SIP is not supported on smallcase for Groww. What was previously known as Manual SIP is now called Investment Reminder. When you invest in an existing smallcase through an Investment Reminder, a transaction fee of ₹100 will apply. This fee is capped at 1.5% of the investment amount, whichever is lower.
Examples:
- Invest ₹10,000 → ₹100 + GST or 1.5% of the investment amount, whichever is lower
- Invest ₹5,000 → 1.5% of ₹5,000 is ₹75. Since ₹75 is lower than ₹100, the transaction fee is ₹75.

FAQs
1. When are transaction fees applicable?
Transaction fees apply when investing via lump sum or through an Investment Reminder. No transaction fees apply for rebalancing, managing, or exiting smallcases.
2. What has changed?
- Previous: A flat ₹100 transaction fee, capped at 2.5% of the investment amount, applied to new smallcase investments only, plus applicable GST.
- Now: A transaction fee of ₹100 or 1.5% of the investment amount, whichever is lower, plus applicable GST, applies to lump sum investments in new and existing smallcases.
- SIP is no longer supported on smallcase for Groww. What was previously known as Manual SIP is now called Investment Reminder, and the same transaction fee applies when you invest through it.
3. Has pricing increased or decreased?
The updated structure reduces costs for over 70% of investors.
Example: A ₹5,000 investment previously incurred a ₹100 transaction fee. Under the revised structure, 1.5% of ₹5,000 is ₹75, which is lower than ₹100 + GST. Therefore, the transaction fee is ₹75.
