Revised Transaction Charges for smallcases on Upstox

smallcase is committed to making investing simple and accessible for everyone. Today, over 1.2+ crore Indians use smallcase to explore and invest in curated portfolios.
To continue offering a seamless experience, here are the new charges applicable from 21st November, 2022, on how smallcase transactions will be charged on Upstox.
Transaction Fees
Lumpsum Investment Fee: ₹100 per transaction, capped at 1.5% of the investment amount.
- You will never pay more than ₹100, regardless of the amount invested.
- If 1.5% of your investment is lower than ₹100, the lower amount will be charged.
- Example:
- Invest ₹1,00,000 → Pay ₹100
- Invest ₹5,000 → Pay ₹75 (1.5%)
- Invest ₹1,000 → Pay ₹15 (1.5%)
- Example:
SIP Investment Fee: ₹10 per transaction, also capped at 1.5% of the investment amount.
- Example:
- Invest ₹1,000 via SIP → Pay ₹10
- Invest ₹500 via SIP → Pay ₹7.5 (1.5%)
No Charges for
- Rebalancing
- Managing smallcases
- Partial or complete withdrawals

1. When are transaction fees applicable?
Only when you invest new money, either via lumpsum or SIP. No charges apply to rebalancing, managing, or withdrawing.
2. What has changed in pricing?
- Previous: ₹100 per transaction, capped at 2.5%
- Now: ₹100 per transaction, capped at 1.5%
- SIP Fee: ₹10 per transaction (capped at 1.5%)
3. Has pricing increased or decreased?
- For over 70% of investors, the new structure results in lower charges.
- Example: Previously, investing ₹5,000 meant paying ₹100. Now, the same transaction costs only ₹75.
- SIP pricing remains minimal to promote consistent investing.
